OUR STORY

THE WEATHERED BARN was established in 2008 as an ever-evolving concept store that features an eclectic mix of artisanal goods and home accessories.  Currently located in the historical village of Greenport on Long Island's picturesque North Fork, The Weathered Barn is home to some 10+ craftspeople whose work is carefully curated to fit within the shop's lifestyle brand.  This lifestyle is one that is taken at a slower pace & deeply rooted in one's natural surroundings, a lifestyle that takes into consideration how & where things are made and what materials are used, and ultimately a lifestyle that creates beauty & shares it with the world.

- HUSBAND & WIFE, BEST FRIENDS, & BUSINESS PARTNERS -

Some people are surprised to hear how well Jason & Rena Wilhelm work together, but they wouldn't have it any other way. Rarely seen apart, they're always challenging & learning from each other and bringing their own set of skills to the business. Rena's experience includes interior design, retail & visual merchandising while most of Jason's career path was spent in the carpentry trade and later in antique furniture restoration. In the end it is a balance of personalities & skill along with lots of laughter and the promise to keep life simple that makes them successful in both love, friendship & business.

RENA WILHELM

Rena Wilhelm's personal body of work is an ever evolving collection of illustrations, paintings, & handmade jewelry that pays homage to the inherent beauty found in nature and her fascination with it.  While the immediate surroundings of driftwood and pebbled beaches continue to inspire her, she's currently exploring the artistic diversity & rich cultural traditions found in other parts of the country. For Rena, a cluttered work area strewn with ink, beads, rocks, bark & fabric will always serve as a recipe for something distinctive & beautiful.

JASON WILHELM

Jason's intrinsic ability to see 3-dimensionally backed by years of construction experience allows him to take found objects, scrap metals & collected local driftwood re-purposing them into one of a kind designs.  Jason’s artistic contributions come in the form of woodworking, sculptural design, lighting fixtures & vintage silverware rings.
